My, and maybe all of us, major complaint is they made Jenna Ortega as plain and ugly as they could - to keep with the intent of the novel, I assume.

If she looked like Wednesday Addams, not dressed in a burlap sack, and her hair was not "I forgot to shower, or use a comb, for a week" maybe the movie would be a hit.
